The network maintenance plan for small businesses utilizing the Ubiquiti network aims to ensure the network’s stability, security, optimal performance, and near 100% uptime. Network Maintenance Plan Details

Extend UI Care Warranty:

  • No extra cost for equipment purchased by Speedy IT Networks on our clients behalf. We will still preform the RMA tasks for our customers that purchased their own UI Care Extended Warranty.
  • UI Care extended warranty to five years on eligible devices.
  • Priority RMA Service – Receive your replacement before we receive your return.
  • Free Return Shipping – Your replacement comes with a prepaid shipping label to ensure a free, no-hassle return.
  • Unlimited Service – Enjoy peace of mind with unlimited RMAs.

Firmware Updates:

  • We perform regular scheduled firmware updates for all Ubiquiti devices, including access points, switches, and routers, to ensure they are running the latest stable and secure software versions.

Backup Configuration:

  • Create and maintain backups of key devices and network configurations. This ensures that you can quickly restore settings in case of any unexpected issues or hardware failures.

Monitoring and Alerts:

  • Utilize network monitoring tools to keep track of device performance, and potential issues. Techs receive and respond to SMS alerts for critical events such as ISP outages, excessive traffic, and device connectivity issues.

Performance Optimization:

  • Periodically review network performance metrics to identify any bottlenecks or areas that need improvement.
  • Optimize wireless access point channels and power settings to reduce interference and improve coverage.

Security Updates and Best Practices:

  • Regularly update security patches on all network devices to protect against potential vulnerabilities.
  • Enforce strong passwords and implement best security practices, such as enabling two-factor authentication and disabling unused services.

Onsite Hardware Inspection and Cleaning:

  • Conduct monthly physical inspections of network equipment to ensure they are free of dust and debris.
  • As needed, clean and maintain critical network equipment to prevent hardware issues caused by poor ventilation.

Performance Testing:

  • Periodically perform performance tests to evaluate the network’s capabilities and identify areas for improvement.

User Access Reviews:

  • Review user access privileges and remove any unnecessary permissions regularly to enhance network security.


  • Maintain detailed documentation of the network layout, IP address schemes, and device configurations.
  • Keep track of any changes made to the network to aid troubleshooting and future updates.

Monthly Reporting:

  • Monthly email with attached document of network checklist of performed tasks (updates, inspections, testing, and backup confirmations). Includes Topology (map) of network devices and current status. 

Disaster Recovery Plan:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive disaster recovery plan that includes procedures to restore the network in case of major power failures or natural disasters.

Budget and Lifecycle Planning:

  • Plan for hardware upgrades and replacements based on the devices’ lifecycle, new technology advancements, and budget constraints.

By implementing this maintenance plan, the Ubiquiti network will be well-maintained, secure, and efficient, ensuring a reliable and high-performance network infrastructure for the organization’s operations.
